Israel extended a humanitarian ceasefire until midnight on Sunday (9pm GMT) following a request by the United Nations, but warned it would respond to any fire from militant groups.

Israeli defence forces also said it would continue to target Hamas tunnels during this time.

Hamas said the current terms of the ceasefire were "not acceptable", and would not agree until all Israeli troops left Gaza and displaced civilians were allowed to return home.
