Three top Hamas commanders killed in Israeli strike

Three senior Hamas military commanders have been killed in Israeli air strike in the Gaza Strip, the Islamist militant group said.

Hamas named the men as Mohammed Abu Shammala, Raed al-Attar and Mohammed Barhoum and said they were killed in a bombing of a house in the southern town of Rafah.

Israeli military: Mortar fire came from near UN school

Lt Col Peter Lerner from the Israeli army said they were currently reviewing what happened in this morning's "tragic" incident, when at least 15 Palestinian refugees were targeted as they slept in UN school shelter.

Speaking to ITV News Presenter Mark Austin he said what he did know at this stage is that mortar was fired at the army from near the school, and soldiers returned fire.
