Series of strikes on Gaza market kill 16 and injure 150

A series of airstrikes on a busy shopping area in the Shijaiyah area of Gaza has killed at least 16 people and injured 150, officials said.

Israel had no immediate comment on the strikes. Eyewitnesses said the airstrike hit a warehouse on the edge of the area, causing a fire and sending a large cloud of smoke billowing into the sky.

A second strike hit an area approximately 500 metres away, according to witnesses, killing 16 people immediately, including Palestinian photographer Rami Rayan, who was wearing a press vest at the time.
