Three top Hamas commanders killed in Israeli strike

Three senior Hamas military commanders have been killed in Israeli air strike in the Gaza Strip, the Islamist militant group said.

Hamas named the men as Mohammed Abu Shammala, Raed al-Attar and Mohammed Barhoum and said they were killed in a bombing of a house in the southern town of Rafah.

How many UN schools are there in Gaza?

A United Nations school has been hit by a strike today leaving people injured and children receiving treatment at a nearby hospital.

It is the latest strike to hit a UN school and follows yesterday's shelling which left at least 16 people dead.

  • There are 82 schools serving as UN shelters in Gaza.
  • They are housing an estimated 204,000 people who have been displaced by the conflict.
  • That is the equivalent of 10% of the entire population of Gaza.
