Hamas 'deliberately threw away' chance for peace

Hamas has "deliberately thrown away" a chance for peace in Gaza, the Israeli prime minister's spokesman has said.

Mark Regev said Hamas opened fire on Israeli forces and captured a soldier "barely an hour and a half" after the ceasefire commenced.

"Since then, Hamas has targeted the border area with mortar shells and have shot rockets deep into Israel," he continued.

"Let's be clear, not only has Israel taken casualties but Hamas has deliberately, yet again, thrown away a chance for humanitarian relief for the people of Gaza, by deliberately violating this ceasefire."
