Three top Hamas commanders killed in Israeli strike

Three senior Hamas military commanders have been killed in Israeli air strike in the Gaza Strip, the Islamist militant group said.

Hamas named the men as Mohammed Abu Shammala, Raed al-Attar and Mohammed Barhoum and said they were killed in a bombing of a house in the southern town of Rafah.

Israel declares seven hour truce starting on Monday

Israel has declared a seven hour truce in Gaza starting from 10am local time (8am BST) Monday morning.

In a statement defence officials said the ceasefire would not apply in the southern Gaza town of Rafah where Israeli forces are still operating.

So far their month-long operation against Hamas has resulted in the deaths of 1,800 Palestinians and more than 60 Israelis.
