Three top Hamas commanders killed in Israeli strike

Three senior Hamas military commanders have been killed in Israeli air strike in the Gaza Strip, the Islamist militant group said.

Hamas named the men as Mohammed Abu Shammala, Raed al-Attar and Mohammed Barhoum and said they were killed in a bombing of a house in the southern town of Rafah.

Temporary ceasefire gave Gaza's people a brief respite

A temporary ceasefire between Israel and Hamas gave a brief respite to the people of Gaza today, before an attack on a bus in Jerusalem spurred ongoing tensions in the region.

Tonight an Egyptian source told Reuters that Cairo has been pushing for an extended ceasefire to allow talks to continue and is "now awaiting the Israeli response".
