A woman whose daughter is due to give birth in the UK has told ITV News of her desperation at being blocked from leaving Gaza despite her holding a British visa.
She was among the people currently denied exit to travel beyond the Gaza-Egypt border at Rafah on a day when Palestinians took to the streets to protest against Israel's seven-year blockade.
ITV News International Affairs editor Rageh Omaar reports from the crossing point:
There have been two days of quiet in Gaza. No rockets or missiles, no more destroyed houses, no more ambulance sirens screaming.
A three-year-old girl has been rescued from Gaza and brought to London for life-saving heart surgery.
A small team of NHS doctors and surgeons is travel to Gaza to set up facilities and establish how best to use specialists and equipment.
