Games of Thrones actor dies four days into filming

Belfast born actor JJ Murphy has died just four days into film for the new season of the fantasy HBO show Game of Thrones. The 86-year-old was to play the role of the oldest member of the Night's Watch called Ser Denys Mallister.

He died after reportedly collapsing on Friday August 8 after only having shot a few scenes for the show.

Murphy, who was a life time member of actor's union Equity, had a "passion for theatre, for the welfare and betterment of actors" according to actress and fellow Equity member Maggie Cronin who paid tribute to his life and work.
