Customer discovers swastika inside McDonald's burger

McDonald's has apologised to a US mother who was served a chicken sandwich with a printed swastika symbol inside.

Charleigh Matice, 32, was left stunned after opening the bun to add mayonnaise following her purchase at a drive-through restaurant in North Carolina.

The mother said she was told the offensive symbol was marked on to the delicacy by an employee who was "bored".

McDonald's said it did not "tolerate that kind of behaviour" from its staff, and the employee was subsequently sacked.

The branch offered to replace the burger, but Ms Matice said she no longer had an appetite and demanded a refund.
