Three top Hamas commanders killed in Israeli strike

Three senior Hamas military commanders have been killed in Israeli air strike in the Gaza Strip, the Islamist militant group said.

Hamas named the men as Mohammed Abu Shammala, Raed al-Attar and Mohammed Barhoum and said they were killed in a bombing of a house in the southern town of Rafah.

Additional food aid for people of Gaza

Food parcels are starting to be distributed to hundreds of thousands of people in Gaza following the announcement of a three-day ceasefire.

The operation, organised by the United Nations, will aim to help 730,000 people over the next two weeks.

Food assistance programmes organised by humanitarian agencies have already reached 1.1 million people in Gaza.
