Fighting intensifies in eastern Ukraine

Fighting has started again in eastern Ukraine between government troops and separatist rebels, Ukrainian military officials said.

Yesterday a missile killed at least 15 refugees who were trying to flee the area "burning them alive". More bodies may still be recovered.

This comes days after a convoy of aid supplies travelled to the country from Moscow but Ukraine is still to let them in over fears it could spark an invasion.

Russia: Ukraine 'fights to stop humanitarian aid'

Russian foreign ministry has accused Ukraine of engaging in intense fighting in eastern Ukraine to stop Russian humanitarian aid coming to the region.

We draw attention to the sharp intensification of military action by Ukrainian forces with the apparent aim to stop the path, agreed on with Kiev, of a humanitarian convoy across the Russia-Ukraine border.

Ukraine has said it destroyed part of Russian armoured column after it crossed the border into Ukraine during the night.
