Joan Rivers gets the star-studded farewell she wished for

Dozens of celebrities have paid their last respects to comedian Joan Rivers in Manhattan.

Hugh Jackman and the New York Gay Men's Chorus performed at the ceremony, which was also attended by stars including Whoopi Goldberg and Sarah Jessica Parker.

The pioneering 81-year-old died after suffering a heart attack during a routine medical procedure on Thursday.

The New York state health department is now investigating the circumstances surrounding Rivers' death.

Joan Rivers 'remains on life support' says daughter

Actress and comedian Joan Rivers is on life support, her daughter Melissa Rivers has said.

On behalf of my mother and our family, we are extremely grateful for all the love and support we've received. At this time she does remain on life support.

Rivers was admitted to hospital last week after she stopped breathing during throat surgery.
