Memorial service held for IS victim Steven Sotloff

Nearly 1,000 mourners including relatives, friends and politicians, have attended a memorial service in Florida for US journalist Steven Sotloff, who was killed by IS militants.

The Islamic State released a video on Tuesday showing the murder of Mr Sotloff.

He is the second American journalist to be beheaded in two weeks over the group's confrontation with the US over air strikes in Iraq and its foreign policy.

Footage of James Foley being beheaded on August 19 shocked the world.

Cameron: IS terrorists speak for no religion

David Cameron has insisted the Islamic State "speak for no religion" as he condemned a video appearing to show the murder of US journalist Steven Sotloff.

If verified, this is a despicable and barbaric murder. My thoughts and prayers are with Mr Sotloff's family and friends as they deal with this appalling and tragic situation.

As I have said consistently over the last few weeks, (IS) terrorists speak for no religion.

They threaten Syrians, Iraqis, Americans and British people alike and make no distinction between Muslims, Christians or any other faith.

– David Cameron
