Joan Rivers gets the star-studded farewell she wished for

Dozens of celebrities have paid their last respects to comedian Joan Rivers in Manhattan.

Hugh Jackman and the New York Gay Men's Chorus performed at the ceremony, which was also attended by stars including Whoopi Goldberg and Sarah Jessica Parker.

The pioneering 81-year-old died after suffering a heart attack during a routine medical procedure on Thursday.

The New York state health department is now investigating the circumstances surrounding Rivers' death.

Rivers 'being kept comfortable' in New York hospital

Comedian and actress Joan Rivers has been moved out of intensive care in hospital in New York, and into a private room, her daughter Melissa said in a statement.

Rivers, 81, is now "being kept comfortable" in a private room, her daughter said.

She had been on life support after she suffering cardiac arrest during surgery on her vocal cords at a clinic in Manhattan on August 28.
