Women being tested for Ebola at Northampton hospital

Northampton General Hospital has confirmed a female patient, who had recently travelled abroad, has been admitted with a suspected case of Ebola.

Public Health England said Ebola was "considered unlikely", but that testing was being done "as a precaution".

Ebola 'considered unlikely' in Northampton case

Tests on a female patient at Northampton General Hospital have shown Ebola "is considered unlikely", the hospital said.

Tests have now shown that the patient is malaria negative and Ebola is considered unlikely. Further testing is being done as a precaution, as is usual practice in these circumstances.
