Holders India have secured their World Cup semi-final spot following a 109-run victory over Bangladesh in Melbourne.

India scored 302-6 in the first innings after winning the toss and electing to bat, and Rohit Sharma responded by hitting 137 from 126 balls.

Bangladesh never looked likely to reach the 303 required for victory and were eventually put out of their misery with five overs to spare.

India will be heavily fancied to retain their title after continuing to dismiss every opposition batsman they have come up against at the tournament.
