Drivers were caught up in a serious traffic ham after a major London road was closed by escaped pigs on the loose.

Transport bosses said they were forced to shut the A21 Sevenoaks Road for several hours due to "pigs in the carriageway" on Saturday morning.

They tweeted several pictures of several of the small porkers enjoying their moment of freedom alongside the normally busy road.

The pigs' escapades closed the road between Hewitts Roundabout and the village of Pratt's Bottom from 11am on Saturday.

They were finally rounded up and the road re-opened at around 3.30pm.
