Body found in search for pensioner who went missing in Storm Angus

Police have found a body in the search for a 69-year-old man who went missing in severe flooding during Storm Angus.

Officers recovered a car believed to belong to Russell Sherwood in Neath, South Wales, on Tuesday.

Enquiries to identify the body will follow in due course.

Mr Sherwood’s family have been informed of the discovery and are being updated and supported by specially trained officers.

Woman, 39, rescued at sea near Folkestone dies

A 39-year-old woman who was rescued from the sea near Folkestone has died, Kent Police said.

Kent Police was called at 6.54am following a report of a woman in the sea.

Folkestone and Dungeness coastguard, Doverlifeboat and a helicopter were dispatched to an area off the harbour. The woman later died in hospital.

Police said they are not currently treating the death as suspicious, and a report is being prepared for the Coroner.
