Real Madrid full-back Theo Hernandez has hinted he could declare for Spain if he continues to be overlooked by his native France.

The Marseille-born 20-year-old is eligible to play for Spain having lived there for a decade and appears to have a fractious relationship with the French Football Federation.

He declined an under-21 call-up in the summer and was subsequently pictured on holiday in Marbella. That did not go down well with FFF president Noel Le Graet and Hernandez has not received another invitation since.

"I do not close the door on Spain because there have been two times that (France) did not call me for under-21s and it makes me nervous," he told AS.

"If you still do not call me, I'll see other options," he said.

Spain boss Julen Lopetegui has hinted he may consider the player should he achieve dual nationality, saying in June: "We focus on those we can pick. If he had Spanish nationality..."
