A 15-year-old boy has been killed and another teenager injured in a collision involving a scrambler and car near Ballymoney.
The two vehicles collided on the Taughey Road close to the Seacon junction just off the main A6 sometime around 5pm on Saturday.
The teenager was treated at the scene before being taken by ambulance to hospital where he later died.
He has been named as local teenager Marcus Forsythe.
It is understood a friend who was with him on the scrambler suffered a leg injury. The occupants of the car were treated at the scene for shock.
His home is close to where the accident happened.
Local Ulster Unionist councillor Darryl Wilson told UTV Marcus was a “very well liked young man”.
“I got word through in the middle of the night that the young lad had passed away due to injuries sustained in the accident,” he said.
“I used to be a neighbour of the family many years ago and he was a very happy-go-lucky young fella who had a lot of friends. He was well loved by all of his friends and they will be devastated at this heart-breaking news.
“This will be a devastating blow for the village of Seacon where he lived and indeed for Ballymoney and the entire borough.”
