A church service with a difference has attracted a congregation of hundreds, with pets of all shapes and sizes joining their owners for the occasion.
St Anne’s Cathedral welcomed all creatures great and small, so it was only right to open Sunday afternoon’s service with that hymn.
And there were plenty of willing participants in the pews, eager to raise their voices.
Dean’s Vicar, the Rev Canon Mark Niblock, said the service was inspired by St Francis of Assisi and his love of animals.
“This is also the time of year when churches celebrate the Harvest, and we want to reflect on the important place animals play in our lives at this service of thanksgiving and blessing,” Canon Niblock added.
