A number of people have been taken to hospital after a two-car crash on the main Antrim to Ballymena road, in which a horse was also killed.

It is understood that a Vauxhall Vectra collided with the horse on the A26 Lisnevenagh Road shortly after 4am on Saturday.

A second vehicle – a Volkswagen Bora – is believed to have then also struck the animal.

PSNI: “The driver of the Vauxhall has sustained injuries that, while serious, are not thought to be life-threatening.

“The five occupants of the second car sustained only minor injuries.”
