A man has appeared in court in Londonderry charged with murdering a three-year-old boy.
The toddler, Kayden McGuinness, was found dead in a flat in the Colmcille Court area of Derry’s Bogside on Sunday 17 September 2017.
On Wednesday, 23-year-old Liam Whoriskey – from Glenabbey Gardens in the city – appeared before the magistrates’ court.
Extra police were brought into Bishop Street Courthouse after the accused was verbally abused by a small group of people as he arrived at the court.
No bail application was made and Whoriskey was remanded into custody to appear again via videolink next month.
A 24-year-old woman arrested on Monday in connection with the death has been released pending a report to the Public Prosecution Service.
