The Wales captain, Aaron Ramsey, will not play against Costa Rica tomorrow after failing to recover from an ankle injury.
– Football Association of Wales statement
Aaron was injured in the match with Sunderland and will not be available for the Gary Speed Memorial International. He will however, be present at the match, to pay his respects to the former Wales manager on Wednesday evening.
Striker, Craig Bellamy, is the favourite to lead Wales - possibly in his final appearance for his country. 32 year old Bellamy, who currently plays for Liverpool, was a close personal friend to Gary Speed, and agreed to make himself available for the fixture to honour his former boss. But he has said he is considering his international future.
The game against Costa Rica will be held at the Cardiff City Stadium on Wednesday evening. There will be a concert before kick-off, with performances by Super Furry Animals, Bryn Terfel and Only Men Aloud. The event is to honour the life of former Wales manager, Gary Speed, who died in November. An inquest into his death earlier this year recorded an narrative verdict.
