The factories have been threatened with closure for some time. A petition with a hundred thousand signatures in support of Remploy factories was handed in at Ten Downing Street last November, with disabled workers saying they would have to live off benefits if they closed.
But today the DWP made their announcement, with over 280 of the 430 workers in Wales losing their jobs. They say it does not consider the factories viable on business grounds and not because of their location.
