Welsh doctor had manslaughter conviction
A doctor who worked at two Welsh hospitals after being convicted of the manslaughter of a patient will appear in front of a disciplinary hearing on Wednesday. Marcus Hourmann, who's originally from Argentina, was convicted of killing a patient in Spain in 2005. He came to Wales and continued to work here, not declaring his conviction.
He was employed as:
- An Accident and Emergency medic at Prince Philip Hospital, in Llanelli, between 2007 and 2008
- A locum consultant at the University Hospital of Wales, in Cardiff, in 2010
- A surgeon for Dyfed-Powys Police
He was suspended by the General Medical Council in 2010. He will appear before a GMC hearing in Manchester today. The hearing is expected to last for 5 days
