Two footballers raped a drunk teenage girl as their friends watched and filmed, a court heard today. Wales and Sheffield United striker Ched Evans, 23, and Port Vale defender Clayton McDonald, also 23, deny sexual assault.
The attack is alleged to have taken place at a Premier Inn hotel near Rhyl, during a bank holiday last May. The prosecution told Caernarfon Crown Court that the footballers had admitted having sex with the woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, but she was too drunk to give consent.
John Philpotts, prosecuting, also said that a friend of the footballers, Jack Higgins, and Ryan Roberts, Mr Evans' brother, had watched through a window, and that video recordings found on Mr Higgins' phone showed that he had been filming or trying to film.
Mr Evans, originally from St Asaph, is a graduate of the Manchester City youth academy.
The trial continues.
