Man arrested on suspicion of 'vulnerable' pensioner's murder

Police have issued a fresh appeal for information after arresting a man in connection with the death of 68-year-old Peter Lewis on Saturday.

A 31-year-old man from the Roath area was arrested last night on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody.

Mr Lewis died of the single stab wound in the early hours of Saturday following an incident at the communal hallway of his home in Claude Road.

We have had an excellent response to our appeal for information and we are receiving a lot of information from the community directly into the incident room and also through other routes such as house to house enquiries.

I am hoping that yesterday’s arrest will encourage more people to come forward

– Detective Superintendent Stuart McKenzie, South Wales Police

Detectives are specifically appealing for anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious in Claude Road, Oakfield Street, Broadway, Gold Street, Clifton Street, and the surrounding area during the early hours of Saturday to contact them.
