The eighty-eighth Combined Cavalry Memorial Service and Parade is taking place today in London.
The poignant day comes as a Welsh MP has hit out at proposals being considered by the Government which could see one of Wales' oldest army regiments being axed.
Madeleine Moon told Wales Tonight it would be a "disaster" and a "travesty' if the 1st The Queen's Dragoon Guards was lost.
The plans are being considered as part of the Westminster Government's defence cuts.
An Army spokesman said:
The Army is currently considering re-design options as the Army reduces to 82,000. No decisions have been taken. The regimental system is fundamental to the fighting power of the British Army today and we are not going to change it.
