16-year-old Lloyd Pinder from Splott, in Cardiff, has won a scholarship at world-renowned cookery school Le Cordon Bleu. The Scholarship Award is worth £30,000, and also includes a stint at Michelin-starred Tom Aikens restaurant.

Lloyd spends his time mentoring younger people and raising money for charity. Thanks to his local community his life has taken an extraordinary turn by winning the Le Cordon Bleu UK Scholarship Award 2012. He's now well on the way to becoming one of Wales's next big cooking talents.

In just nine months, Le Grand Diplome students learn all the classic French techniques in Cuisine and Patisserie, progressing from Basic to Superior level over the course of three terms.

Working with our expert master chefs, students receive the guidance and hands-on knowledge they need to obtain their Le Cordon Bleu Grand Diplôme - their ‘passport to the culinary world'.
