A man found dead at a property in Swansea has been named by police as 48-year-old David Gary Edwards, known as Gary.

His body was discovered at Villa Terrace in Treboeth at around 6.50pm on Wednesday.

Police have been granted more time to question a 33-year-old man from Port Talbot, who has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

Mr Edwards' sister Elaine Goldup has paid tribute to her brother on behalf of the family.

Gary was a well liked and helpful man, a caring and loving brother, well respected by his nieces and nephews. He will be sorely missed by his family.

Relatives of Mr Edwards are being supported by a Family Liaison Officer.

Meanwhile South Wales Police say their investigation is ongoing.

We still want to hear from anyone who was in the vicinity of Villa Terrace on Wednesday evening. People may think that the information they have may be insignificant, but to the investigating team it could be very significant in helping us to piece together what actually happened.

– Detective Superintendent Paul Hurley, South Wales Police

Police are now awaiting the results of a post-mortem examination.

Officers are appealing to anyone with information to contact the incident room on 01792 562732 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
