Welsh teenager Jade Jones has made history by becoming Britain's first Olympic taekwondo champion.

The 19-year-old from Flint beat Yuzhuo Hou of China in the women's under-57kgs final.

Wales is now guaranteed to bring home six medals from these Olympic Games, with the colour of Hannah Mills and Fred Evans’ medals yet to be decided.

We are immensely proud of Jade Jones. To not only reach the Olympic final, but to win the gold medal at her first Games, and at just 19 years-old is just the most phenomenal achievement.

– Laura McAllister, Sport Wales

Jones' win brings Team GB's gold medal tally to 25.
