Around 3,500 people wear prosthetic limbs in Wales, with many saying their lives have been transformed as a result.
21-year-old Scott Stevens from Swansea is one of them. Thanks to the Artificial Limb and Appliance Centre in Swansea, Scott hopes he may one day achieve his goal of competing in the Paralympics.
Scott was just 12 years old when his leg was amputated because of a cancerous tumour. Nine years later he's training for a 10k race and hopes to do more sprinting soon.
Our Health Correspondent Mariclare Carey-Jones has been speaking to Scott and the team who have helped him.
