Welsh soldiers receive honours for Afghanistan service
Two Welsh soldiers have been awarded honours for service in Afghanistan.
Rifleman Matthew Wilson from Aberystwyth - who was shot in the head as he ran to protect a wounded comrade in Helmand - has been awarded The Military Cross.
Corporal Mathew Perry of Newport - who developed and mentored a new Afghan Local Police Force in a previously lawless area - was given The Queen's Commendation for Valuable Services.
– Rifleman Matthew WilsonI don't really think of what happened to me at the time. I was just scanning the ground looking for good options of where to go, and obviously trying not to get it again, or for any of the lads to get hit
