Pride of Britain nominee: Maria Price

Over the past few weeks you have been sending in your nominations for the Daily Mirror Pride Of Britain Local Hero Awards 2012, which you can watch exclusively on ITV 1.

The awards recognise the extraordinary achievements of normal people, who make the world a better place.

This week we're bringing you the stories of Wales’ three regional finalists, including Maria Price.

Maria is a nurse at Prince Charles Hospital in Merthyr Tydfil, but sacrifices her days off to raise awareness of bowel cancer.

She has raised enough money to buy a bladder scanner through charity nights, fundraising walks, selling crafts - and even getting others to jump out of planes!
