Emotional appeal from sister of missing vet

An emotional appeal has been made to help find Catherine Gowing after she was reported missing on Monday Photo: North Wales Police

In an emotional press conference, the sister of Catherine Gowing, who has been missing from Flintshire since last Friday, appealed to the community for their help in finding the 37 year-old.

Emma Gowing described her sister as a "kind, sensitive and beautiful person". She appealed for the local community in Flintshire to help in the search for her sister and in tracing her plum/burgundy coloured Renault Clio.

We are all so deeply shocked by the events that have unfolded in the last four days. Catherine’s disappearance has left us all bereft. We are lost without her.

We are desperate to hear any news of Catherine’s whereabouts.The Police urgently need your help to find Catherine and her Renault Clio with Irish plates 00D 99970.I’d implore the local community to do all they can and help us find her. Look out of your windows, look as you drive or head to work. Check your local street, car parks, garages, waste land or anywhere a car may be left.Please look, please search, and please help us find my beautiful sister.

Catherine is a kind, sensitive, beautiful person. She's passionate about animals and devoted to her family.

She's my best friend, the light of my life and the light of my parents life.

Investigating officers have issued the following CCTV pictures of Catherine's last known whereabout.

They have established that the last known sighting of Catherine was at Asda in Queensferry, Flintshire on Friday 12th October.

She was seen entering the store at 8.06pm and she left at 8.39pm.

North Wales Police have said one of their main focus' of the investigation is Catherine's plum/burgundy Renault Clio bearing the Irish registration plates - 00D 99970.

They believe tracing the vehicle could help them establish Catherine's whereabouts.

Co-ordinated searches continue at various locations in an attempt to find Catherine, her vehicle and personal items that appear to be missing from her home.A forensic examination continues at Catherine’s home address and we continue to seize and view CCTV footage which may give us an indication as to her whereabouts.I would again like to emphasize the assistance the public can provide in helping us to find Catherine by looking for her plum/burgundy Renault Clio that has not been seen since Friday evening.I would urge people to look for this distinctive vehicle which is on Irish registration plates OOD 99970 as they go about their daily business.Please look carefully at the photographs of this vehicle.If you have seen Catherine’s car since Friday or know where this vehicle may be, please contact the major incident room on 101.This morning a 46 year old Gwynedd man who is being held in connection with this investigation appeared before Prestatyn magistrates and a warrant of further detention was granted to North Wales Police.This warrant will allow us to detain the suspect in custody until early tomorrow evening.
