A wedding party, including a bride and groom from Wales, are stranded in New York as the city goes into lockdown in preparation for Hurricane Sandy.

Around 30 guests had flown out to America to celebrate the couple's big day but many have since been unable to fly home as flights out of New York have been cancelled.

Phillip Stocker's daughter, Charlotte from Abertillery, is with the wedding party.

We spoke to one of the bridesmaids, Stephanie Phillips from Ebbw Vale, who is with the wedding party. She described the city as being like a 'ghost town' and says they have been warned to stock up on food and drink as conditions are set to worsen over the next few hours.

Forecasters warn strong winds, heavy rain, flooding and dangerous sea conditions with a surge of water up to 12 feet high could reach built-up areas along the East coast.

Parts of America including New Jersey are already experiences the effects of the hurricane.

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office have issued the following advice to British nationals currently in New York or on the Easy coast of America.
