Swansea City defender Chico Flores is set to miss his side Premier League clash with Southampton at St Mary's on Saturday.
The Spanish centre back is still struggling to recover from a dead leg suffered during the Swans victory over Liverpool in the Capital One Cup last week.
Flores missed the 1-1 draw with European Champions Chelsea last Saturday with club captain Gary Monk called in to partner Ashley Williams at the heart of the Swans defence.
Flores has formed a formidable partnership with Williams since his arrival from Genoa in the summer.
Chico also scored his first goal for his new club recently, grabbing the opener in the League Cup victory over Liverpool at Anfield.
Chico Flores stats:
- Age 25
- 3 caps for Spain U21
- Joined Swansea City in July 2012 for £2 million
- Given a straight red during home draw with Sunderland in September
Is thought Laudrup will again prefer Gary Monk to replace Flores although the former Danish international can also call on the services of Alan Tate.
– Michael Laudrup, Swansea City manager
Gary (Monk) came on against Liverpool and did well, he did well against Fernando Torres.
We really don't want to lose players...better to leave them out for a game then come back.
Soon we will have the whole squad fit, except obviously Neil (Taylor)
Laudrup is still without left-back Neil Taylor who has been sidelined for the season with a broken ankle. Defender Kyle Bartley also remains unavailable with a thigh injury although the former Arsenal player is expected to be fit in the next 10 days.
Swansea City travel to the south coast this weekend to face a Southampton side who lie bottom of the Premier League - still without a win in their opening 10 games.
