'Parkour for Pensioners' comes to Cardiff

Jumping off buildings, vaulting over walls or turning somersaults over park benches - it doesn't sound like the sort of thing your average retiree might have on their "must-do" list!

Experts say it is great exercise for balance and strength

But the Gwanyn Arts Festival, organised by Age Cymru, has set up what it believes are the first ever 'Parkour for Pensioners' sessions. The moves are a little gentler than regular free- running, which was developed from military assault course training!

Jane Solomons went to a class of seniors being put through their paces at The Millennium Centre in Cardiff.

Spring is a chance to try something new and I thought Parkour dance was ideal.

I'm really enjoying it.

It's good to do in a safe environment and if you really like it then take it further
