A new Welsh Secretary: Who is Stephen Crabb?

Stephen Crabb has been named as the new Secretary of State for Wales in the Prime Minister's reshuffle. He takes on the role following the departure of David Jones MP yesterday.

Here's a quick personal profile of the new Welsh Secretary:

  • Stephen Crabb is the Member of Parliament for Preseli Pembrokeshire
  • He grew up in Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire.
  • He began his political career as a Parliamentary Intern. He was first elected as a Member of Parliament for his home constituency in 2005
  • In 2012 he was named Parliamentary Under Secretary of State in the Wales Office
  • In December 2012, he was named ITV Wales' 'Member to Watch' in the Welsh Political Awards 2012
  • In his personal life he plays rugby for Commons and Lords RFC, and has run the London Marathon three times
