A Cardiff man has been sentenced to 16 years after raping a woman in her 90s in her own home.
Lee-Joseph Dixon, 18, from Ely, appeared at Newport Crown Court for sentencing this morning having previously pleaded guilty to rape.
The incident happened in the early hours of Saturday 24th May in the Ely area of Cardiff.
Detective Inspector Stuart Wales, of South Wales Police, said Dixon was identified and arrested within 72 hours of the attack on the elderly woman in her own home, after information was provided by members of the public.
Dixon was given an eight-year custodial sentence and will spend a further eight years on licence after his release.
He was also ordered to sign the Sex Offenders Register and Dangerous Offenders Register for the rest of his life.
