Hundreds of people have gathered in the capital to show their support for refugees. The event was organised under the banner, 'refugees welcome', and many there used the opportunity to call for the UK Government to do more.

Kaleem Ahmad was one of the people at the rally, and is a refugee himself.

He came here two years ago from Pakistan, having been persecuted for his religious beliefs and seen friends and family killed.

It was difficult for us to leave that country and come here but there was no other choice for us, because if we live there, they will kill us

– Kaleen Ahmad

The UK Government has this week announced that they will take 20,000 refugees before 2020; but many at todays event, said that simply wasn't enough.
