Injured climber rescued from perilous ridge on Snowdonia

A party of three climbers got into difficulty after one of the group fell and was injured.

A helicopter was called out on Tuesday to winch the climber to safety from the 3,000ft perilously steep East Ridge of Crib Goch in Snowdonia.

The UK Coastguard search and rescue helicopter based at Caernarfon airlifted the Llanberis Mountain Rescue Team to the extreme location, where they secured the walking party with ropes for their safety during the winch operation.

The Coastguard and maritime Agency says the injured climber is "going to make a speedy recovery!"
