A Newport Bus worker will wave a fond farewell to his colleagues tomorrow, 28 years after he was told he wouldn't last a month in the job.

Shaun Condon has autism and when he went to work as a cleaner at the bus depot in 1989 some thought it wouldn't last long, but he more than proved them wrong.

Shaun's mother Daphne says the job has been the making of him.

He was very shy, he wouldn't mix with people. He wouldn't talk to anybody strange. But coming here it's a different environment and in this environment with the men that have looked after him. And this is why he's stayed this long.
