A GP from a Cardiff practice has been sentenced today for possession of thousands of indecent images of children.
Armon Daniels, 55, who worked at Rumney Primary Care Centre, had his computer seized by police when they executed a search warrant at his home.
A search of his computer and two USB sticks found more than 16,000 images of children and more than 850 video files.
Catrin Evans of the Crown Prosecution Service said: “A significant number of images and videos of a sexual nature had been downloaded to the devices recovered."
Daniels was sentenced to eight months in prison, suspended for two years at Newport Crown Court.
An NSPCC Wales spokesman said: “The children in these images are all victims of horrific abuse and the significant catalogue found on Daniels’ computer is deeply disturbing.
“By downloading this material he has betrayed a position of trust within the community and helped to fuel a vile online market."
