Taxi drivers in Powys are being offered free training sessions to help them protect the vulnerable people they pick up.
Powys County Council said the initiative is to raise awareness of child sexual exploitation and well as all other aspects of safeguarding. Drivers will learn how to spot signs that vulnerable people may be at risk, know how to report their concerns and who to contact.
Government discussions are currently underway to introduce mandatory safeguarding training.
Cllr Jonathan Wilkinson, Powys County Council’s Cabinet Member for Licensing, said:
The project is between Powys County Council’s Licensing and Safeguarding teams and Dyfed Powys Police.
