Natural Resources Wales (NRW) is asking people to be alert as stormy conditions could cause localised disruption and potential flooding this weekend.

Current forecasts show that strong winds are likely to combine with high tides Friday evening into Saturday affecting much of the Welsh coastline.

People are advised to keep an eye on local weather forecasts over the coming days, and check the NRW website for the latest information about any flood alerts or warnings which may have been issued in their area.

NRW says, in preparation, emergency response workers will be out at vulnerable areas checking that flood defences are in good working order.

We’ll be keeping a close eye on the tides and the latest forecasts from the Met Office over the next few days, and if we need to issue flood alerts or warnings we will.

We have already been speaking with our partners from the emergency services and the local authorities so they can also put their plans into action.

As always, our advice is to stay away from the coastline, piers and promenades during this time as large waves and stormy conditions could make them very dangerous places to be.
