Appeal after woman targeted in Swansea cashpoint theft

Police are appealing for information after money was stolen from a woman in Swansea.

The woman had just withdrawn money from a cashpoint on Oxford Street when a man who had been watching her snatched it and ran off.

Two bystanders chased after the man and retrieved the cash, but before they could call police the thief broke free and made off.

It happened just after 5pm on Friday 15th December.

A similar incident happened at the cashpoint later that day.

A male person has been arrested in relation to the second incident and police are keen to trace the first female victim who has not yet reported the incident to police.

The female victim is described as being approximately 70 years old, 5ft 4in tall, dark hair and was wearing a long coat.

The police would also like to speak to the male witness who initially assisted the female with chasing and detaining the male in Oxford Street, and any other person who may have witnessed either of the incidents.
