He’s the unknown musician who first picked up a guitar as a teenager and has gone on to play on stage alongside his idol, Slash from Guns N’ Roses, in front of thousands of adoring fans.
But now Chris Buck’s name is set to become rather bigger on the music scene after he was named the best new guitarist in the world.
Chris, from Abercarn, received the accolade after an online poll conducted by Total Guitar magazine.
Chris saw off competition from 13 other rising stars to come out top in the online vote.
The guitarist is no stranger to hitting the headlines, however.
Last year he became something of a viral hit when he recorded a cover of the Tom Petty classic I Won’t Back Down for Classic Rock magazine following the US musician’s death.
Chris first picked up a guitar aged 13, making his debut live appearance a year later with his school band, Cold Fusion, in the back of his local pub.
His first love was Guns N’ Roses – and incredibly in 2012 he appeared on stage at the NIA in Birmingham in front of thousands with his idol, band guitarist Slash.
